Introduction
At Medronho & Canela we are passionate about food! And our passion for medronho, this wonderful and incredible red fruit from the Mediterranean basin, stimulates our creativity every day so that we can develop more and better foods with the raw materials we extract from this fruit, which is rich in antioxidants, fiber, minerals, vitamins and many trace elements.
Medronho Bread, which we have been selling since 2020, was the product that led us to develop knowledge and food technology for processing the fruit, triggering a journey of no return in the optimization of processes and methodologies that allow us today to be at the forefront of innovation with products derived from medronho.
The path we have traveled since 2010, when we began our first research and development work, has brought us knowledge, experience and a good dose of daring to continue innovating.
The research and development work we carry out at the company is the result of collaborative partnerships with academic institutions, skills and knowledge transfer centers, but above all, with partners in the business and industrial sector, with whom we have close technological development and marketing relationships.
This collaborative work, along with our participation in national and international trade fairs, our constant presence at technological events in the food sector, researching and investigating new solutions to incorporate into our processes, have been some of the strategies developed with the aim of maintaining a strong presence in the food sector. performance innovation in line with the main market trends and food sustainability.
The products we develop at Medronho & Canela are aligned with the main objectives of the UN agenda in terms of sustainability and food footprint. We work exclusively with certified organic or fully ecological medronho, from small farms and small producers. All the components of the fruit are properly processed in order to preserve their bioactive compounds through researched and constantly optimized processes. We have managed to extract 5 different raw materials from the fruit and all of them are used and integrated into different food matrices.

Medronho Spread King Cake
To the traditional Bolo Rei dough, we've added the nuts and dried fruit characteristic of Bolo Rainha and a delicious Medronho fruit filling. This innovative product is kneaded and fermented traditionally for several hours, then baked in a stone ballast oven and decorated with Medronhos, our company's king fruit.

Medronho Truffle: a delicious filling of medronho pulp, where the acidity of the fruit's vitamins stands out in a chocolate crunch, the outside of which is sprinkled with medronho powder. Bombom de Medronho: sweeter, creamier and more velvety, it emphasises the orange tones of the fruit in its natural state.
